"Melocactus" was originally going to be the opener for the album, one or two iterations before the project was actually called Melocactus. As such, it's pretty old.

Out of any songs on the album, it's had the most name-changes. First it was "BLB", short for Budget Laser Beam, an old name for the project. Then it was "Uh Oh Here We Go", which is a plenty suitable name, but I wanted something really iconic for the aesthetic of the band as a title track, so I went ahead and self-titled it.
